February 2010 Meeting Minutes
The monthly meeting of the RIEMA Board was held on Thursday, February 11, 2010, at 4:05 p.m., in the conference room of Rochambeau Community Library in Providence. The President and the Secretary were present, along with 6 other members of the board and 1 affiliate member. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved as corrected.
The report of the Treasurer was received and placed on file.
A trifold from Legislative Day was received and entered into the files. Donna moved that Phyllis be reimbursed $39 for the purchase and postage of 21st Century learner summaries. The motion was adopted.
Diane moved that RIEMA buy a $100 savings bond for the winner of this year’s Love Your School Library award at the cost $50. The motion was adopted.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:35 and those who attended selected a winner from among the Love Your School Library entries.

January 2010 Minutes
Meeting Minutes
The monthly meeting of the RIEMA Board was held on Thursday, January 21, 2010, at 4:05 p.m., in the conference room of Rochambeau Community Library in Providence. The President and the Secretary were present, along with 6 other members of the board and 3 affiliate members. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved as corrected.
The report of the Treasurer was received and placed on file.
Jane Vincelette moved that the minutes of the RIEMA board meetings be posted on the new website site beginning in January 2010. The motion was adopted after debate.
Stacey Lyon moved that RIEMA co-sponsor the URI Annual Gathering on March 3, 2010 at the amount of $250. The motion passed.
Joan Wollin moved that RIEMA give $250 to the Rhode Island Children’s Book Award committee to defray the cost of distributing lists and stickers through the mail. The motion was adopted after debate.
Officers for the Certifications and Standards committee, Conference committee, Programs committee, and Publications committee reported on their activities. Phyllis Humphrey reported on the Awards Task Force for Donna Good.
Jane Vincelette reported on the activities of the Mall Exhibit Task Force, and Joan Wollin moved that RIEMA contribute $250 to provide materials for a RIEMA table. The motion was adopted.
A resolution to standardize the use of the job title, “School Librarian,” which was passed by the AASL Board of Directors on January 15, 2010, was received and placed on file.
A letter to Rhode Island Libraries re: RILA’s Legislative Day on February 9, 2010 was received and placed on file.
A letter from the Rhode Island Coalition of Library Advocates was received and placed on file. Emily Brown moved that RIEMA contribute $250 to the COLA anniversary fund in honor of the organization’s 25th year. The motion was adopted after debate.
Jen Simoneau reports that the meeting was adjourned at 6 p.m. without any further actions, the secretary having left at 5:45.
